(SAN FRANCISCO) The anti-Asian violent incidents are on the rise, everyone is looking for solutions to end the violence. Hazel Lee, President of San Francisco - Shanghai Association, has thought of providing free mini alarm devices for the seniors to protect themselves. Lee announced her idea of self protection in a press conference last week on San Bruno Ave. in the Portola neighborhood. Eddie Wu, President of the San Francisco Asian Peace Officers Foundation, supported the idea and donated $500 to the San Francisco - Shanghai Association for having more devices for the seniors. David Maron, Bayview Police Station Captain, said the robberies in Portola have slightly increased in recent weeks. He advised the community to walk in groups to reduce the chances to be targeted. He urged everyone to call 911 when they felt they were in danger. “Police cannot be around everywhere for 24 hours, we all need to protect ourselves. This handy mini alarm device can be helpful to come with a loud noise to scare away the suspects. It can also alert the police,” said Lee. She has started her fundraising campaign on www.GoFundMe to get more related devices for the people in need.
